As many of you know, effective January 2, 2014, the IBM Professional Certification Program exam delivery was moved from Prometric to Pearson VUE Test Centers (PVTC), and are no longer available at Prometric Testing Centers. For all IMB exams, candidates should now register at PVTCs.

Yet, the company makes transition as easy as possible for the candidates. Those who have previously taken the IBM exam, can continue using their Candidate Testing ID, and all their records and IBM exam history will remain in place. Pearson VUE also recognizes valid IBM promotion codes and IBM vouchers issued prior to the transition.

The biggest change, however, seems to be the new test numbers. IBM introduces new prefixes (yes, no longer those familiar 000s), and keeps the ending 3 digits the same. The full exam correlation table is available here.

Exam Admission Changes

At Pearson VUE centers, new exam admission requirements are being used. With the primary goal of improving the security and minimizing the chances of exam fraud, IBM has decided that candidates who are taking a proctored exam are now photographed and asked to provide a digital signature. The photograph and signature become a permanent part of each candidate’s IBM certification record. Photos taken during the admission process are printed on score reports and all candidate data is securely stored and protected by Pearson VUE. These requirements may be modified according to local laws.

Red Hat Certified System Administrator in Red Hat OpenStack: What Lies behind The New Name? http://www.weimarmedical.org/?vb=blog/red-hat-certified-system-administrator-in-red-hat-openstack-what-lies-behind-the-new-name/ Wed, 12 Feb 2014 09:08:49 +0000 http://www.examcollection.com/blog/?p=191 Read More »]]> According to this North Carolina based vendor, the name has been the only change, made to better reflect the nature of this credential, and to align more closely to the job role typical candidates have, which is system administrator. The company also wanted to make it clear that Red Hat OpenStack is the technology, delivered in Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform. This certification exam curriculum, however remains the same, and so do the training materials.

When the candidate puts Red Hat Certified System Administrator in Red Hat OpenStack credential on their resume, it means they have the skills, knowledge, and abilities to create, configure, and manage private clouds using Red Hat Enterprise Linux® OpenStack® Platform, including:

  • Installing and configuring Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform.
  • Demonstrating excellent project management skills
  • Configuring and managing images.
  • Adding compute nodes.
  • Managing storage using Swift and Cinder.

To achieve the Red Hat Certified System Administrator in Red Hat OpenStack certification, candidates need to pass Red Hat’s EX210 exam. This is a 3 hour performance based exam where candidates need to perform a variety of hand-on tasks. Those who have taken Red Hat exams before probably know that the company is all about practical tasks and real world experiences (which is great for your future career and real-life job, if you ask us!)

And here’s what Red Hat says about the exam requirements (no formal prerequisites and down-to-earth realistic approach make us love Red Hat!)

  • There are no restrictions on eligibility to take this exam.
  • All Red Hat Certificate of Expertise exams are performance-based, meaning that candidates must perform tasks on a live system, rather than answering questions about how someone might perform those tasks.
  • Real-world experience is the best preparation for this hands-on exam.
